Joe was a crew member of a B-17 Flying Fortress which was sent to a bombardment mission of the Tatoi airport, in 1943. His aircraft was hit by AAA and after some stressful efforts of escaping manoeuvres, he managed to make an emergency landing in Corfu!! The crew was rescued by the locals and after many adventures, they returned to Amendola, Italy in 1944. Mr. Kavvathias has painted a frame of the mission.
